Rapid Manufacturing with the freeformer from ARBURG

Rapid Manufacturing with ARBURGAs an industrial term, “rapid manufacturing” refers to the generative, mould-free manufacture of final products from 3D CAD files. ARBURG has developed an innovative system precisely with this in mind: the freeformer and ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (AKF) process.
Unlike conventional systems, e.g. for the production of prototypes, the freeformer processes low-cost standard plastics to produce functional one-off parts and small batches. For this purpose, qualified granulate is melted and the desired component built up layer by layer – where necessary, with the aid of water soluble support structures. The process achieves excellent mechanical properties and a homogenous layered structure.
The high-quality system from ARBURG is designed for rapid manufacturing in industrial production, but can be used with equal success in offices or design departments, as it produces no dust or emissions. A further advantage offered by AKF for rapid manufacturing is the option of processing several components, e.g. in order to create hard/soft combinations.
